This was a unit of the 19th century Volunteer Force of the British Army, formed in 1859. On the reorganisation of the TA into the Territorial Army Volunteer Reserves in 1967, the Leeds Rifles formed part of A company within The Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire.
