A line infantry regiment formed in 1685 as The Earl of Baths Regiment of Foot during the Monmouth Rebellion, when the 1st Duke of Monmouth attempted to overthrow King James II. After WW2 the regiment was honoured with the name ‘Royal Lincolnshire Regiment’ before being amalgamated in 1960 with the Northamptonshire Regiment.
