The Royal Naval Division was formed in 1914 from Naval Reserves and Royal Marines initially to defend ports and Naval basis on the continent. it was not long before they found themselves on the frontline where they soon earned a reputation as one of the best lead and highly motivated fighting units on the Western Front.
